On Thursday, the White House announced a proposal to merge the Departments of Labor and Education. Over the last month, the White House has gone through a review of the different Cabinet agencies, looking for ways to make the federal government smaller. The merger would need to be approved by Congress. It isn't the only structural change being eyed by the White House; there's also been discussion of changing the name of the Department of Health and Human Services to something close to its former name, the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, The Wall Street Journal reports.
