Chicago police are seeking a follow-up interview with Empire star Jussie Smollett but are declining to comment on reports that they believe he staged his alleged attack. Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said Sunday that authorities are "not in a position to confirm, deny or comment on" media reports but that "there are some developments in this investigation and detectives have some follow-ups to complete." Police previously confirmed the investigation had "shifted." This comes after CNN reported police now believe Smollett paid two men to assault him. Smollett's lawyers have vehemently denied this report and said Monday there are "no plans" for him to meet with Chicago police on Monday but that they will "keep an active dialogue."
