New data shows that the $1.5 trillion tax cut bill is not paying for itself, as its Republican backers predicted it would. Although the economy grew by almost 3 percent in 2018, federal tax revenues fell by 2.7 percent, or about $83 billion. The federal budget deficit is now on track to top $1 trillion this year.

Americans age 65 and older were the most likely Facebook users to share fake news articles during the 2016 election, according to a study published in the journal Science Advances. Older people posted seven times as many articles from fake news websites as did adults 29 and younger.
