Snowboarder Shaun White won gold in the men's halfpipe Wednesday in Pyeongchang, making history as he earned the United States its 100th Winter Olympic gold medal.

The United States is the second country to win 100 winter gold medals, behind Norway, which has 121. White earned a score of 97.75, just ahead of Japan's Ayumu Hirano with a score of 95.25. This is White's third gold medal and his first since 2010. With this medal, he also becomes the first American man to win gold at three separate Winter Games.
