A shooting at a public works building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, early Friday morning left two people dead and two injured, city officials have reported. Both people killed were city employees, and neither their names nor the identity of the shooter have been released. A city representative said the situation is now stable and there is "no ongoing threat."

A sanitation worker named Dwight Black was arriving at the facility where the attack took place when he saw people running out the door. They told him a shooting was in progress. "Fight or flight. I just followed suit," he said. "I didn't know what was happening, so I just kind of got out of the way until I could ascertain what was going on."
