Businessman Bill Lee won the Republican nomination for governor in Tennessee on Thursday night.

Lee was up against three other Republicans: Rep. Diane Black, entrepreneur Randy Boyd, and House Speaker Beth Harwell. Lee traveled the state in an RV and on a tractor and said he was a conservative outsider like President Trump. Lee spent $7 million on his campaign, while Black and Boyd spent a combined $35 million.

At a party in Franklin Thursday night, 200 supporters gathered to watch the results roll in, and touted Lee as God's "messenger," The Tennesseean reports. Lee will face Democrat Karl Dean, the former mayor of Nashville, in November. Catherine Garcia

Former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney won Tuesday night's GOP Senate primary in Utah, defeating state Rep. Mike Kennedy.

With 83 percent of precincts reporting, Romney has 73 percent of the vote and Kennedy 26 percent. Romney, who ran the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, was a vocal critic of President Trump during the 2016 presidential election, but toned it down after Kennedy questioned during the campaign whether he would support Trump's agenda. Romney will face Democrat Jenny Wilson in the November election, with both vying to fill the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch. Rep. Dan Donovan easily defeated former Rep. Michael Grimm Tuesday night in the Republican primary in New York City's 11th district.

Donovan was endorsed by President Trump, and with 92 percent of precincts reporting, had 64 percent of the vote compared to Grimm's 36 percent. Grimm served as a congressman from 2011 to 2015, leaving office to serve time in federal prison after pleading guilty to felony tax fraud. Donovan, who won a special election to replace Grimm, will face Democrat Max Rose in November. Catherine Garcia

On Tuesday night, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) won the GOP nomination for governor, defeating businessman John Warren.

With 84 percent of precincts reporting, McMaster has 54 percent of the vote, compared to Warren with 46 percent. McMaster, a former South Carolina Republican Party chairman, took office last year after Nikki Haley became U.N. ambassador.

President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence did a big push for him ahead of Tuesday's election, with Trump coming to South Carolina for a rally Monday night and Pence visiting over the weekend. McMaster will face Democratic state Rep. James Smith in the November election. Catherine Garcia

Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Pa.) defeated state Rep. Jim Christiana Tuesday in Pennsylvania's Republican Senate primary, winning the right to face incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D) in November.

Barletta, the former mayor of Hazleton, has represented Pennsylvania's 11th congressional district since 2011, and had the support of President Trump. He's going into the general election as the underdog in a state that Trump won in 2016. Casey was first elected in 2006, and his late father was the governor of Pennsylvania in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Catherine Garcia
